National Skills Academy for Power (NSAP) is a key part of the Energy & Utility Sector Skills Council with an objective is to support a sector comprising of power generation, distribution, metering and renewables in the development of skills and competencies. This will be centred on the involvement of employers in devising a national approach to Power Sector skills.
The individual appointed to this role will be responsible for the development and management of the Transmission & Distribution (T&D) sector in delivering an increasing revenue stream resulting from increased membership, employer satisfaction, funding and the provision of services and other commercial activities. It will involve developing relationships across the sector from major companies to SMEs and thus requires an in depth knowledge and potential network within the T&D industry
Reporting directly to the Head of Business Development NSAP your responsibilities will be to:
- Review current and envisaged commercial activities within the T&D sector and together with NSAP’s Head of developing a medium/long term business plan.
- Personally negotiate with companies in the sector to maximise NSAP’s revenue by applying an excellent understanding of funding opportunities, price sensitivities, market conditions, member/stakeholder needs and NSAP’s existing capabilities
- Establish and maintain a regular cycle of contact with NSAP’s T&D member managers and other operational executives to communicate short and medium term member/stakeholder needs, an understanding of operational constraints and hence create/agree forecasts and action plans – also to capitalise on the areas where real added value can be delivered
- Promote multi level relationships with members, other stakeholders and key potential
- Advise the Head of Business Development on the commercial benefits of implementing new services needed to enhance NSAP’s competitive edge.
- Ensure that existing contracts with key accounts are tightly managed while developing true partnerships to realise the full potential of the business platform
